Hey there! Today was busy busy busy! We left our hotel and left Tokyo, sadly. It was so much fun to be there - i`d love to go back some day for sure!! It is a lovely city and it was just SERIOUSLY cool to be there (especially when we were eating breakfast in the 5 star breakfast place and there was all this cool jazzy music, reminiscent of 1940s movies - we were putting together a classic script like this; 'Rachel, honey, don't leave me here alone in Tokyo!' 'But darling i MUST, and i can't go on like this!!' ...good times.)
We had our first bullet train experience and had the whole car to ourselves. At eight thirty we all hauled our luggage onto the bus, got off at Tokyo station and very carefully made our way thru the station to the train. We were on it for two and a half hours but those things go CRAPPIN FAST! Man on man alive, they're cool things.
We got off in Sendai, the hometown of our tour leader, Brother Watabe. His father was the first convert to the LDS church in the area in the 1960s, and since then the work has flourished there. We went to the church building and they had a huge meal prepared for us. It was incredible. I have pictures but there is a line of 9 people that need to use this single, dial-up internet machine in the lobby of the hotel and i have limited time. Sad.
Needless to say, Sendai is BEAUTIFUL and there are trees all over the city and its really, really nice here.
The concert tonight was FABULOUS! I think we all felt really, really good about it. The hall was one of hte best we've played in so far, and we were all just very together. Sadly the Japanese people are...still...very conservative and their clapping was less than enthusiastic. However, after the concert as we interacted with them it was very obvious that they were very, very happy to have us there and very much enjoyed the concert (even the 3 encores we did were well recieved!!)
Again, sorry for the lack of pictures. I'll post double tomorrow if i can!!
I love you all and i'll see you IN A WEEK!
I just got caught up from being gone myself. I love your pictures, and it sounds like you're having a great time. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
